[ Highlight ]
Kananbo school was group of swordsmith who lived around Kanabo-tsuji "金房辻" of Nara, in the end of Muromachi period. In their remaining swords, it is oldest with the signature of Masashige "正重", and creation year signature nenki "年紀” Eisho "永正" 14 (1517). It was considered that their most flourished time was around Tenbun "天文". Their representing swordsmith were Masakiyo "正清", Masamitsu "正実", Masashige "政重” and others. Mr. Fukunaga Suiken had a study as following : When Tsutsui Junsho, a head of Kofukuji temple Jhoshin-in and others who were armed Buddhist priests, defeated by peasants uprising in Tenbun "天文" 1(1532), they decided to train swordsmiths, Kananbo "金房", to reinforce armaments. Terrible power of peoples in Sengoku era, and if Kanabo school was born to correspond with them, it was understandable that vivid and violent mood infuenced on the style and characteristics. Not only it is possible to appreciate much variety of jigane and hamon but light and practical katate-uchi o-hira-zurkuri fine balance. It is strongly recommended to enjoy its taste.

There is very tiny and thin rust but it does not prevent the appreciation. Excellent in general.
