[ Feature ]
Form : Shinogi-zukuri, iori-mune, wide body, thick layer of grain, slight curvature, and medium cutting edge extending outward give this sword a bold appearance.
Engraving : The engraving on both sides shows a straight line running down the centre.
Nakago : The nakago is ubu, with a decorative file mark on the front and a reverse file mark on the back. The tip is sword-shaped, with one mekugi hole.
Jigane : The jigane is itame-hada with a flowing grain, masagari, and a skin-like texture.
Hamon : Gunome-midare, ashi appeared. Nie attached well. Sunagashi appeared.
Boushi : The boushi has midare-komi form. Saki shows hakikake shape.

[ Highlight ] The second Minamoto no Shigeatsu, whose real name was Shinichi Fujita, was born in 1934 in Miyanojo-cho, Satsuma-gun, Kagoshima Prefecture, and was a swordsmith who created swords in Miyanjo-cho. He learned sword making from his father, the first Shigeatsu Fujita (real name: Atsushi), and was certified as a swordsmith on 14 August 1969.He aimed to emulate the works of Masayoshi Izumi (the first Masayoshi of Satsushū) and the Sōshū school, and specialised in a style with a gunome with ashi mutual foot-shaped notch. This sword was created in 1971, when the second Shigeatsu was 37 years old. It is a broad, heavy sword with a well-nie attached in balanced manner in base blade.

[ Conditions ] There are two 2 mm blade chips and two 1 mm blade chips. There is minor rust on the base and tip. The file marks on the tang are worn thin in places due to decay.

[ Attachments ] Habaki(suaka-ji, gold foiled, double), shirasaya and bag of shirasaya.
