[ Size ] Blade length 67.8cm (2 shaku 2 sun 4 bu 0 rin), sori 1.21cm (4 bu 0 rin), moto-haba 3.01cm, moto-kasane 0.63cm, saki-haba 2.00 cm, saki-kasane 0.39 cm, mekugi-ana(holes) 2, blade weight 645g , koshirae length 98.5cm
[ Period ] Edo, first half of
[ Province ] Kaga "加賀"

[ Feature ]
Form : Shinogi-zukuri. Iori-mune. Mihaba is relatively wide. Kasane is ordinal. There are differences between moto-haba and saki-haba. Shallow sori attached. Some saki-zori attached. Chû-kissaki form.
Nakago : Ubu. Yasurimes are suji-kais. Saki is iri-yama-gata. Two holes.
Jigane : Ko-itame-hada. Some changes mixed. Jinie atttached. Shirake-utsuri comes to appeare on surface.
Hamon : Gunomes, togari-bas mixed. Konie attached well. Sunagashis appeared.
Boushi : It runs in midare-komi. Komaru. Saki turns with hakikake tip.

Koshirae : blue shell work, brown ishime-ji uchigatana-koshirae ; tsuba : design of wild geese open work (iron baes, kaku-maru shape) ; fuchigashira : design of waves and chrysanthemum (iron base, ke-nuki, gold iroe) ; menuki : design of crawling dragon (shaku-dô base katachi-bori)

[ Highlight ]
Ieshige was officially hired swordsmith of Kanazawa clan, Kaga province. First generation Ieshige was a person around Keichô. His family name was Matsudo. Same name continued for three generations. Third (or second, by other study) generation Ieshige officially appointed Iyo Daijyô by Shuden (daimyo) Maeda family entrusted through Yotsuji Dainagon. Since then, he changed his name from Fujiwara Ieshige "藤原家重" to Tachibana Katsukuni"橘勝国". First generation Katsukuni swords were known as Ô-waza-mono "大業物", with regular sanbon-sugi pattern hamon. He was representing swordsmith of Kashû-shintô, as same as Kanewaka. Katsukuni school was called Darani "陀羅尼" generations by generations. Effective fourth generation and after, they were not so forceful but the continued till end of Edo period. The swords of 7th generation Katsukuni are remaining. This proved that their family line continued till end of Edo period. Kyushô-ji "久昌寺" temple, at Horikawa-Kadoba-chô(current Horikawa-shinmachi) in Kanazawa city is Darani Katsukuni "陀羅尼勝国" school's family temple.

This sword has well graind ko-itame-hada, sanbon-sugi, which refrection of nie is so strong. Its form is well balanced in hand. Koshirae is cha-ishime nuri-zaya in dark tone, which has a little blue shell work aogai-chirashi. Tsuka is a little longer than usual, called tate-zutsumi "立鼓". Tsukamaki is lacquer coated. Those characteristics might show the sword was owned by very high skilled swordsman.

[ Conditions ]
There is tiny scratch. There are small rusts at hasaki around monouchi. Koshirae maintains excellent conditions.
