[ Province ] Echizen "越前"

[ Feature ]
Form : Small size fukuro-yari.
Engraving : (omote) bon-ji(sanscrit) (ura) goma-bashi with red paint.
Nakago : Sack shape. One hole.
Jigane : Ko-itame-hada well grained.
Hamon : Midare-bas. Distinction between blade and base iron is clear. Ko-nie attached. Suna-gashis appeared.
Boushi : ko-maru shape.

[ Highlight ] : A sack spear, fukuro-yari, has a sack-shaped stem, into which the handle is inserted and a mekugi is used. Many of the ancient pikes are shaped like this. It is said that the spearhead was carried and the handle was made from a tree cut down on the battlefield. The present work is an elaborate work of the Echizen Shimosaka school, with engravings. It appears to have been made with special intentions and to have been carefully preserved.
