[ Feature ]
Form : Hirazukuri, mitsu-mune three-ridge, ordinary width and thickness, slight curvature, forming a compact tanto.
Nakago : Raw tang, file marks descending on the right side, tip in yamagata shape, one mekugi hole.
Jigane : The jigane (base metal) exhibits an itame-hada texture, flowing with a slight grain prominence, and displays ji-nie (fine surface grain).
Hamon : The hamon features a wavy blade pattern intermingled with gunome-head and pointed-edge elements, the valleys of the irregular pattern taking on a straight-edged character. The nie is well-developed, with fine sunagashi.
Boushi : The boshi is irregularly drawn, small and rounded, with a slightly deep return.

[ Highlight ] Shimada Yoshisuke was the founder of the Sunshū Shimada school, and several generations bearing the same name continued from around the mid-Muromachi period into the Shin-Shin-tō period. Their style connects with that of Mino, Ise, and late Sōshū schools, making precise differentiation between generations difficult. This piece features a dynamic hamon pattern, both sides complementing each other, with a boiling effect where the wavy blade pattern transitions into a straight-edged pattern, forming its key attraction.
