[ Feature ]
Form : Sho-bu-zukuri, iori-mune. Both mihaba and kasane are ordinal. Saki-zori attached form.
Nakago : Ubu. Yasurimes are katte-sagari. Saki is shallow kuri-jiri. Two holes.
Jigane : Itame-hada well grained. Chikei appeared well. Jinie attached.
Hamon : In notare-tone, ko-midare mixed. Muneyaki appeared.
Boushi : Ko-maru. Saki is haki-kake. It shows some midare changes, the it turns long.

[ Highlight ] The Shimada school of swordsmiths, led by Shimada Yoshisuke, flourished in Shimada, Suruga Province, from the mid to late Muromachi period. The school established a master-disciple relationship with the Soshu Odawara forge, which shows the unique character of the swordsmiths of this school. Among the Shimada school, Shimada Hirosuke is regarded as the most outstanding swordsmith in terms of forging skills. This work shows an example of the work of Shimada kaji from the late Muromachi period, with its well-grained itame-hada, appeared chikei and attached jinie, mixed with komidare based on notare, and a long, turbulent return of the boushi with a tempered mune (ridge). It is individually inscribed Shimada Hirosuke, based on the characteristics of the forging method of the jigane base iron.
