[ Highlight ] Yokoyama Sukehisa was a Bizen swordsmith from Osafune during the late Edo period, around the Keiō era. His works bear signatures such as ‘Made by Yokoyama Sukehisa, resident of Osafune, Bizen Province’ or ‘Made by Yokoyama Sukehisa, resident of Osafune, Bizen Province’, with dates including Keiō 2 and 3. He is considered to belong to the Yokoyama school of swordsmiths, though his active period may have been brief, spanning only a few years at the very end of the Bakumatsu era. Examining the signature reveals the characteristic Yokoyama style of calligraphy, with features such as the forceful execution of the first stroke and the elongated, right-slanted character form distinctly marking this smith's work. The forged surface is clearly visible, and the well-defined, irregular hamon with its pronounced yaki-dashi (heat pattern) lends this blade a refined appearance.

[ Conditions ] There are slight flaws and minor rust spots.

[ Attachments ] Habaki(suaka-ji, single), shirasaya, bag of shirasay and NBTHK tokubetsu kicho paper (issued on 7th Nov. Showa 45(1970))
