[ Period ] Edo, first half of. Around Kanei 寛永
[ Province ] Bit-chu 備中

[ Feature ]
Form : Shinogi-zukuri, iori-mune, wide body, thick layer, base and tip with a difference in width, shallow curvature, medium cutting edge, chu-kissaki.
Nakago : Ubu. Yasurime are suji-kai. Saki has kengyo form. One hole.
Jigane : Well-grained with a small itame grain skin, and the characteristic o-hada large surface appears around the front mono-uchi, which is often seen in the same school, and the ground is well nie attached with chikei ground sceneries.
Hamon : Notare curved with gunome alternating patterns, with ashi legs and yo leaves, well nie attached and in the style of a imozuru sweetpotato vine.
Boushi : Midarekomi, saki has komaru round shapes. It truns slightly long at the saki tip.


[ Highlight ] Ribei no jo Tameie was the second generation of the family to succeed the first Tameie around the Keicho period, the youngest son of Aoe Tametugu, and the younger brother of Bicchu Mizuta Kunishige. He mainly created swords around the Kan'ei period, and there are two examples from the Kan'ei 18 and 19 periods. Some swords are inscribed with the signatures ‘備中國呰部住河野理兵衛尉為家 Kono Ribeibei no jo Tameie, Bicchu-no-kuni Azabe’ and ‘備中國呰部住為家 Tameie, Bicchu-no-kuni Azabe’, and some are signature with a sealed design. This work has a broad, sturdy body with a ko-gunome forged itame-hada forged surface, partly intermixed with o-hada large surface, with an even, curved blade of nie attached work. A Wakizashi with the same signature has also been introduced and can be owned as a set of dai-sho large and small piece.

[ Conditions ] There is some minor rusting at the habaki-moto base of the habaki. Otherwise excellent.
