Form : Kata-kiri-ha zukuri. Shallow sori attached tanto form.
Nakago : Ubu. Yasurimes are sujikais and kesho. Saki is kuri-jiri. One hole.
Engraving : (omote) ume (plum) trees (ura) huta-suji-his.
Jigane : Itame-hada well grained. Jinie attached.
Hamon : Nioi base sugu-ha.
Boushi : It turns in round.

Aikuchi-koshirae : Autumn grass design, ensemble metal fittings, paulownia wood design menuki, sword hilt with whalebone wrapping, nomi-kuchi style,, iron sword, wooden scabbard.

[ Highlight ] This short sword has a strong, well-grained base iron, a straight blade with an nioi-style blade pattern and well-carved engravings. Minamoto Yoshitaka (Koka 3/1846 - Taisho 9/1920) was a Bizen swordsmith called Daikichi, a student of Tenryushiko Masataka. He is known by the inscriptions 'Bizen Okayama Ju Itsumi Chikukansai Yoshitaka carved Dosaku', 'Bizen Okayama ju Chikukansai Yoshitaka', 'Bishu Okayama ju Chikukansai Itsumi Minamoto Yoshitaka', 'Chikukansai Yoshitaka', etc. There are some dated works from the 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of the Meiji era. After the Meiji Restoration, he is said to have worked with bamboo and wood, and to have been a skilled carver and calligrapher. The inscription reads: 'Old people who knew Yoshitaka speak of his eccentricities and praise him as a human being. He is said to have lived at the current site of Tenmaya, Ekimae-cho, Okayama City.
