[ Prefecture] Fukuoka

[ Feature ]
Form : Cho-bu-zukuri. Iori-mune. Mihaba is ordinal. Shinogi is high. Shinogi is shaved off. Sori attached moderately. Fukura is kare-gokoro. Kowakizashi form.
Nakago : Ubu. Yasurimes are suji-kai. Saki is kurijiri. One hole.
Jigane : Ko-itame-hada well grained. Mokumes and nagare-hada mixed part by part. Fine jinie attached. Chikei and yu-bashir appeared.
Hamon : Gunome. Choji mixed. Nioi is deep. Ashi, kinsuji and frequent sunagashi appeared.Nie attached. Nioi-kuchi is bright.
Boushi : Midare-komi. Saki turns deep in togari-gokoro.

Swordsmith SÔ was born on 17th June Showa 33(1958) in Fukuoka city, Fukuoka prefecture. His real name is SÔ Masatoshi. He was so interested at the working of his grand father and father from his childhood, observing the processes of creating the swords. During his engineering student period in Kyushu university, he became aware of vocation to sword creation by recommendation of his teacher Professor Matsuda having scientific study on Japanese swords.

He became pupil of his father when he was 25 years old in Showa 58(1983) He exhibited his first sword for Shin-saku-to Tenrankai (newly created Japanese swords exhibition) and won new comer prize and excellent award. From then on, he received awards of excellent and endeavor sucessively. He was honored as Chief director award in Heise 9(1997). He received grand prizes such as NBTHK honorary president award, NBTHK president award, the Agency for Cultural Affairs award and Imperial house hold of Takamatsu-no-miya award consecutive 8 years.

Following the guidance of teacher, "Critical point of sword is Jigane", "Create fine jigane", he has been trying to create own iron using sand iron. He himself perform taking raw material and analysis. He was authorized as Mukansa in Heise 18(2006).

[ Conditions ] There is tiny hikes(scrathces) but not significant. It can be maintained and appreciated in current status.
