[ Highlight ] The first generation of Tosa Yoshimitsu is dated to around Tokuji (1306-1308) at the end of the Kamakura period (1185-1333), and is known as Shoan 2, Tokuji 1 and Shoju 2, while Yoshimitsu around Keicho (1596-1615) is known as "Tosa Yoshimitsu V", which the book of signatures states "may be due to placing that generation at the time of Kosho(1455-1457)".
This work is a short sword with a slightly thicker in thickness slightly small form, itame grain forging with a straight blade and a narrow straight edge with a tight nioi-kuchi, with a complete set of knots on the front and back sides. There is a clear nie and flow on the back boushi, which at first glance resembles the features seen on swords created by Awataguchi Toshiro Yoshimitsu, a renowned short sword maker from the middle of the Kamakura period. Although it is impossible to say for sure, it is an interesting short sword that suggests that Tosa Yoshimitsu was conscious of and oriented towards Toshiro Yoshimitsu.
Toshiro Yoshimitsu was recognised as one of the 'three masterpieces of the country' along with Masamune and Goh Yoshihiro by the compilation of the Kyoho Meimobutsucho (Edo period), but there must have been many swordsmiths in the Muromachi period before that who admired his style as the ideal state of short sword making. The sword is stored in a stylish aikuchi (a small wooden sheath) with a lacquered cherry blossom wood texture.

[ Conditions ] The sword blade is excellent. The make is generally excellent, with some slight lacquer lifting and minor peeling.
