[ Size ] Blade length 61,4cm (2 shaku 0 sun 2 bu 6 rin), sori 1,9cm (6 bu 2 rin), moto-haba 3,44cm, moto-kasane 0,63cm, saki-haba 2,84 cm, saki-kasane 0,67 cm, mekugi-ana(hole) 1, blade weight 787g , shirasaya length 89,5cm
[ Period ] Edo, in the middle of
[ Province ] Hizen

[ Feature ]
Form : Shinogi-zukuri. Iori-mune. Mihaba is wide. Shinogi-suji is high. Kasane is reduced toward mune. Naka-zori attached. There is not so much diffrences between moto-haba and saki-haba. Ô-kissaki form.
Nakago : Ubu. Yasurimes are gyaku(reverse)-sujikais. Saki is shallow kuri-jiri. One hole. From the middle and below part, it shows specific round line.
Jigane : Itame-hada, a little hada-tatsu. Mokue mixed. Fine jinie attached. Delicate chikei appeared.
Hamon : Gunome-midare. Ko-notare, togari-bas and ko-gunome-bas mixed. Ashis and yôs appeared. Nie attached well. In total, sunagashis appeared frequently. Tobi-yakis and mune-yakis appeared.
Boushi : It runs in midarekomi-komaru. Saki becomes haki-kake. It turns long and midare, linking to mune-yakis.

Saya-gaki : Hizen-no-kuni Minamoto Munetsugu ni-ji-mei kore ari. San-dai Munetsugu nari. Shi-tai, ji, ba tomoni haki ô-itsu shi deki sugure tari. Kedashi dôsaku-chû no daihyô-saku to shô-su-beki kana. Ha-chô ni-shaku ni-bu amari kore ari. Heisei ki-bi sai u-zuki jô-kan. Tanzan Hendô kanji narabini shirusu. (Kaô)
鞘書 : "肥前國源宗次 二字銘有之 三代宗次也 姿態・地・刃共ニ覇氣横溢シ 出来優レタリ 蓋シ同作中ノ代表作ト可称矣 刃長貳尺二分余有之 平成癸未歳卯月上浣 探山邉道観并誌(花押)"

[ Highlight ] Regarding Hizen Munetsugu, its first generation was a pupil of first generation Tadayoshi. He lived at Isahaya, Hizen province. Several generations continued in same name. This sword was attributed to third generation Munetsugu. Third generatio Munetsugu was born in Shô-ou 2(). He was commonly called Go-ryô-dayû. Later, it changed to Same-no-suke or Same-no-jyô. Based upon ancien a family tree document, Kei-zu nen-dai-ki "系図年代記", which came down in his descendant Sakai family, his succession to a house was considered in Jôkyô "貞享" 1(1684). However, there is remaining sword with time stamp nenki Ten-na "天和" 3(1683), so that the succession was done before "天和" 3(1683). He was hired by Isahaya feudal lord family in Genroku "元禄" 3(1690). He moved to Isahaya in Kyôhô "享保" 3(1718). He retired in his 72 years old, Kyô-hô "享保" 9(1724). (e.g. 48th Jyû-yô-tô-ken-zuhu "第48回 重要刀剣図譜" NBTHK)
This sword has wide mihaba, high shinogi-suji, ô-kissaki sturdy form. There are many changes in ha. Yaki-haba is wide. Both ji and ha nie attached well. The sword with great spirit.

[ Conditions ] Sword is very healty state. Polishment, habaki and shirasaya maitain excellent conditions, too.
